Vermont is blessed with a bevy of quality bed and breakfasts, country inns, and hotels for visitors to call homebase during their time in the Green Mountains and its valleys. Each inn has its own style, size, and slant of roof -- enough variety to fit everyone's tastes. Don't forget that Windekind Farms itself also has a charming studio available for rent.

Below you'll find our main lodging list. All are recommended, and each provides its own unique charm and flavor. Have a look and find the one that fits best. You can book your rooms through the Inn web sites, all linked to below. For those inns without sites, numbers are provided.
You can also get a sense of how far away things be by checking our non-scientific distance chart at the bottom of this page.
Just over the hill from Windekind, the town of Starksboro offers one of Vermont's relatively undiscovered B&B treasures.....
Visitors who stay at the Millhouse are in for a treat. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this gem has been sitting on the same knoll beside the Great Falls of Lewis Creek since 1831. The picture above is the main front view of the Millhouse. You'll be treated like royalty by the Messer family, who have been operating the B & B for almost 20 years -- and have lived there for over 30. Call Becka at 802-453-2008, or visit their web site for reservations. Only 15 minutes from Windekind.

Huntington is more than Windekind Farms' hometown. It also hosts a fun lodging option...
Just down the road from Windekind lies another of Huntington's treasures -- Sleepy Hollow Inn. Run by the Enman family, Sleepy Hollow doubles as a fantastic mountain biking and nordic ski center that offers miles and miles of single- and double-track trails to choose from. The inn has 8 rooms and can accommodate up to 30 people. Highly recommended for the adventurous types. Call Eli at 434-2283 or 866-254-1524 (toll free).

Another town abutting Huntington, Hinesburg provides visiters with a fine lodging option...
If country-style appeals, By the Old Mill Stream may be the place for you. Located just one town over from Windekind in Hinesburg, this small inn is a 130 year old miller's home, framed by lush gardens and a spectacular 100 foot waterfall that runs through the yard's stone foundation. Give Michelle Fisher a ring at 802-482-3613 or visit the web site by clicking on the link. Only 15 minutes from Windekind.

Right off the Interstate and only 20 minutes from Burlington, Richmond is an ideal location for those eager to investigate other parts of the state. It's also a cute town in itself....
Not far up the road from Huntington and Hinesberg, the Richmond Victorian Inn presents another side of Vermont's charm. Frank and Joyce bring a bit of Ol' World Gaelic charm to the 1850 Queen Anne and its six sizable rooms. Join them for tea and crumpets on Sunday afternoon. Richmond itself is just 12 miles and 20 minutes from Burlington, and even closer from the airport.

A few houses down from the Victorian Inn, Mama Bowers Bed & Breakfast offers a more modest European flair at highly reasonable prices. Mama herself provides the ol' world continental breakfasts. Long a favorite of Long Trail through-hikers. Bathrooms are shared, but so are the good times. No web site, but you can still get information and a reservation the old fashioned way: 802-434-2632
Over and down the Appachalian Gap from Windekind Farms, the Mad River Valley and the town of Waitsfield offer several fine bunking possibilities....
The Waitsfied Inn provides an authentic 1825 country inn experience right in the middle of the village, within walking distance from several fine shops and restaurants.

The Mad River Inn is a classic Victorian farmhouse converted into a fine B & B, where rustic charm doesn't have to debilitate the wallet. Enjoy the four-post feather beds, a well-stocked library, or a hot tub under the stars.
The 1824 House is another of Waitsfield's fine country inns, and another one on the National Historic Register. On top of the post & beam and antique-oriented atmosphere, the 1824 House offers a special perk -- a five star culinary experience provided by John Lumbra, one of the innkeepers.
Urban chic in Vermont? Yep. Come to the Green Mountain Metropolis to experience Vermont's happeningest city....
The Willard Street Inn is one of Burlington's finer B & Bs, restored and renovated to its orginal 1880 hybrid Queen Anne Colonial-Georgian spleandor. Located in the heart of city's historic Hill district, the Inn's just a few minutes walk from Church Street and downtown.

One year younger than Willard, the Lang House was built as Victorian symbol of prosperity and success. You can easily see why when you esperience of its nine classic rooms. Like its older sister B & B, the Lang House is just a short walk up into the Hill Section from downtown Burlington, "linking an elegant past with a future full of possibilities," as owners Bobbe and Robert Maynes aptly put it.

Between Windekind and Burlington lies Shelburne, a town with two exceptional options.....

For those with a taste for the finer things in life, the Inn at Shelburne Farms may well be the place for you. The former "country home" of Dr. William Seward and Lila Vanderbilt Webb, the inn sits majestically on the shores of Lake Champlain. 24 rooms, each restored to its own unique historic charm, and stunning gardens that spill out into the lake itself. Sit on the veranda for brunch and enjoy the best in aristocratic sensibility Vermont has to offer....

As advertised, Heart of the Village Inn is in, well, in the heart of the historic village of Shelburne. It's billed as "casually elegeant," but don't let the tag fool you. It's a stunning 1880s Queen Anne, a centerpiece of the town itself, and important enough to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each room is decorated with a mix of period furnishings and armoires. A great base for day journeys throughout the state.
Closer to central Vermont, but still not far from Windekind, Waterbury provides an ideal location for those eager to explore Vermont's many nooks and crannies....

Originally built as a tavern and stagecoach stop in 1826, the Old Stagecoach Inn meshes comfort, elegance, and history into a classic combo. Enjoy a mixed drink by the library fireplace, or relax with a book in the classic parlor. Kids: tell your parents it's just a skip and hop away from the Ben & Jerry's Factory.

Just up the road, the Inn at Blush Hill treats guests to spectular views of the surrounding Green Mountains, and offers a unique atmosphere of 1790 farmhouse. On 5 rolling acres, Blush Hill offers solitude with a capital S.

A Victorian mansion transformed into a stylish, old world hotel, the Thatcher Brook Inn takes its guests back to New England's yesteryear with its gazebos, trellised gardens, and wraparound porch. In Waterbury, but not far from Stowe.
