Location & Travel Distances
Windekind is located three miles east of the village of Huntington. Huntington is home to Camel's Hump, Vermont's second highest mountain. The town is the most rural in the region, but it is not remote. Huntington is near downtown Burlington, Lake Champlain, Middlebury and the resort areas of Waitsfield, Stowe and Warren. Many interesting day trips can be made from Windekind to areas in Vermont and nearby New York State and Canada.
Several outstanding inns, B&Bs and restaurants are located in nearby Waitsfield, Richmond and Hinesburg. We can make accommodation arrangements for our wedding and retreat guests.
Directions
From I-89: Take Exit 11 onto US Route 2. Travel approx. 2 miles east into Richmond village. At the traffic light, turn right onto Bridge Street. Follow signs south towards Huntington (approx. 8 miles). In the village of Huntington, go straight onto East Street just past Jaques' Store (on the right). Look to the right for a sign to Windekind Farm. Travel up East Street approx. 1.75 miles until it joins Bert White Road. Travel up Bert White Road approx 1.5 miles to the top of the hill and down into Windekind Farm.
Huntington has the unique distinction of being close to many of the most interesting visitor locations in Vermont, New York State and Quebec while sustaining its rural character. The farm is also centrally located between the city of Burlington and many of Vermont's ski towns like Stowe and Waitsfield as well as the island communities of northern Lake Champlain.
