Booking Policies

One of the most valuable characteristic of Windekind’s lodging experience is the high level of trust that exist between ourselves and guests. Thus, we have developed the policies below with the hope that they offer clear and reasonable rules of the road.

Deposits:

While respecting our principle of trust, we require a deposit of $100 for the Studio and $150 for the Cottage. In the case of the “whole farm” option the deposit is $250 for a week’s booking. Deposits can be made by check or credit card.

Vermont Rooms Tax:
All payments for lodging are subject to the 9% Vermont Rooms and Meals Tax.

Cancellations:
For cancellation of non-summer rentals, two weeks notice is required. Summer reservations and Christmas week require 30 days notice. In the case of, on-time cancellations, all advance funds will be returned less an administrative fee of: $40.00 for a weekend bookings.

If cancellation notice is received in less then the two week period (30 days for summer bookings) all advanced funds will be forfeited unless the unit can be rebooked for your rental date.

Check-in-time and Check-out-time:
We ask that check-in-time be after 3:00 p.m. and check-out-out time be prior to 10:30 a.m. Depending on the timing of other guest, we make every attempt to be flexible with Check-in and check-out times.

Smoking: Smoking is not permitted in any of the farm’s buildings.

Pets:
Pets are welcome at Windekind; Windekind is a member of the Vermont pet friendly network. We ask that guest keep their animals with them at all times and bring all necessary equipment for their care. We also ask that guest to be responsible for any damage or additional cleaning that pets may cause.

Trail Use:
Their are numerous trails on our 160 acre farm which guest are welcome to use for hiking snow shoeing and skiing (see maps). There are also numerous trails on the lands of our neighbors. Please check with us prior to using trails on the property of others; clear and informative maps and trail directions will be provided.

In the case of the State Park, we ask guest to respect sensitive ecological areas, rare plants, and animal habitats. Information on the park and its trails is also available at the the farm. Under no circumstances are motorized vehicles allowed on Windekind’s trails or the trails of adjacent land owners.

Telephone and Broad Band Internet Access:
The Studio and Breidablick are furnished with telephones for your connivence and safety. All local calls and toll free numbers can be made at no charge. However, the phones have blocks that require a calling card for long distance calls. Breidablick and the Studio have Broad Band Access provided as a service to our guest.

Evening Quiet:
Most guest come to Windekind for the farm’s tranquility and quiet. Therefore, we ask that all loud outside sounds such as music, loud conversations stop no later then 10:30 PM.

The Railroad:
The railroad is in the midst of a two-year overhaul. During the summer of 2008, we plan to operate the trains on Sunday from 10:00am until 1:00pm. Under no circumstances is the railroad to be operated without qualified supervision. Special or extended operating times can be established.
