Booking Policies
We want every guest to feel welcome and at home at Windekind. To ensure that you have the best possible stay we encourage potential guests to review our reservation policies. Keep in mind that our most valued goal with our guest is to create a high level of trust and confidence between us.
We hope that our policies strike you as clear and reasonable with a degree of flexibility built into them. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding them or special requests that we might be able to help with.
Cottage Rates:
In the case of Breidablick, 2 or 4 person (family) occupancy. Rates vary according to season and holidays. There are also special rates for families that choose to rent the entire farm.
Reserving Cottages and Deposits:
If you would like to make a reservation you may do so by telephone or email inquiry. If you choose to fill out the reservation form on our website it is an inquiry only, and not a guaranteed reservation. We will respond promptly to your inquiry with our availability and answer any questions you may have about the rooms. Once we have responded, a reservation may be completed via email.
When a reservation is made we do require an advance deposit to be made via credit card for each cottage reserved. For reservations of two nights we ask for $125.00 for the Studio and $150.00 for Breidablick. For reservations of 3 nights or more, a 45% deposit of the rate for the entire stay is required. All deposits will go towards your stay.
Once deposits are made you will receive written conformation of your stay along with basic information about the farm and Vermont.
Cancellation:
Should you cancel outside of 30 days prior to arrival, your deposit will be refunded, less a $50 administration fee. Should you cancel within 30 days, your entire deposit will be forfeited unless we can rebook your room so it does not result in a loss of business. Upon rebooking the room, your deposit will then be refunded less the $40 administration fee.
Vermont Rooms Tax:
All payments for lodging are subject to the 9% Vermont Rooms and Meals Tax.
Check-In and Check-Out Times:
We ask that check-in-time be after 2:00 p.m. and check-out-out time be prior to 10:30 am, we make every attempt to be flexible with Check-in and check-out times.
Smoking:
Smoking is not permitted in any of the farm’s buildings.
Pets:
Pets are welcome at Windekind; Windekind is a member of the Vermont pet friendly network. We ask that guests keep their animals with them at all times and bring all necessary equipment for their care. We also ask that guest be responsible for any damage or additional cleaning that pets may cause.
Trail Use:
Their are numerous trails on our 160 acre farm which guests are welcome to use for hiking snow shoeing and skiing (see map). In the case of trails on other landowner’s property and the State Park, we ask guests to respect our neighbor’s privacy, and property while being sensitive to ecological areas, rare plants, and animal habitats. Information on the park and its trails is also available at the farm. Under no circumstances are motorized vehicles allowed on Windekind’s trails or the trails of adjacent landowners.
Telephone and Broad Band Internet Access:
The Studio and Breidablick are furnished with telephones for your connivance and safety. All local calls and toll free numbers can be made at no charge. However, the phones have blocks that require a calling card for long distance calls. Breidablick and the Studio have Broad Band and Direct TV Access provided as a service to our guest.
Evening Quiet:
Most guests come to Windekind for the farm’s tranquility and quiet. Therefore, we ask that all loud outside sound such as music, loud conversations stop no later then 10:30 PM.
The Railroad:
We make every effort to operate the Railroad at times suitable for our Guests and us. Under no circumstances is the railroad to be operated without qualified supervision. Special or extended operating times can be established.
